So the marked calendar event of the year - Singapore F1 Grand Prix 2013 - just flew by over the weekend. Coming along with the crazily engineered fast cars and adrenaline pumped races are the awesome loads of fringe parties happening around Singapore. Not to be missed is the signature Johnnie Walker's Formula 1 party, the Johnnie Walker's Circuit Lounge.

So I have heard about plenty of stories about Johnnie Walker's Party.  It's all about glamour, class and panache all thrown into one. I have never attended a Johnnie Walker part before. So I am exceptionally lucky and thankful to be privy to one of the most rave about, 

money-can't-buy-experience, crème de la crème of premier after party. 
Boy, Johnnie Walker really knows how to throw a party! This year, the Johnnie Walker Circuit Lounge Party was held on the night of 21 September, at Marina Bay Sands. The theme of the party was “Step Into The Circuit” and the dress code was “chic and glamorous” to encompass the luxurious theme of the party.

 This description is so apt because the party is as promised. Be ready for the photo galore ahead...

The party this year was held at Marina Bay Sand Convention Hall B and theme for this year is chic and glamorous. Kudos to the team of Johnnie Walker for turning a mundane space into a swanky, elegant and multi-sensory party venue. So this year, I had invited a couple of friends along. As luck has it, one is down with a bug while something cropped up for another. Nevertheless, spirits weren't dampened. We were still very excited to about the party. My close girlfriend of mine, Janet and I arrived at the circuit lounge around 11pm. Right time I would have to say as heaps of people were strolling in around this time as well.

Yeah we were ready... Just sheer luck we both decide to show up in black. (I suppose that's the color you will go for for chic and glamorous right?)

One of the hallmark of the Johnnie Walker Party is their flavour lab.
Flavour Lab is Johnnie Walker's/Circuit Lounge's signature experimental bar, where whisky fans get to try special contrivance mixes, concoctions, creations prepared by world class bartenders.
This year evocative creations were crafted and served by Diageo Reserve World Class Program bartenders: Jeremy Chua, Kae Yin, Zachary de Git and Tim Philips. We managed to try Gold Berry Rock, a raspberry cocktail solidified in liquid nitrogen and Honeybee (think ice popsicle). Both were really good!

Besides featuring these world class bartenders and amazing concoctions, there were plenty of entertainment as well. Personal favorite will be the performance by The Mad Violinist (youtube him) as well as DJ Mel Debarge. There are plenty of others (including a fashion show) as well who really hyped up the night.

Well all in all, J and I had a fabulous time at the party. Drinks were great, music was great, crowd was amazing, it was indeed a night to remember. Johnnie Walker definitely pull out all the stops for the most fantastic experience. Definitely setting my eyes on the next one!

We are Ready or Not~

Confused? So baby brother and I have decided to kill torture abuse challenge ourselves to a full marathon this year. We have signed up for this...

The "most" anticipated, it event on the running calendar in Singapore

The Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore 2013.

Will be running with him (Baby brother in the middle). We are trying to get the other brother on board on our maniac stunt.

So the last time we ran together was 2011, we did a half marathon together. Couldn't find the pictures and the timing but we both remember vividly that i've beaten the baby brother by slightly over 2 minutes. This year we decide to give it another go and challenge ourselves to a full. Its always fun to be running with the sibling. Our sick way to family bonding. I don't know about him but i am pretty excited about this.  The last time i did a full marathon was just after 'A' levels. I participated in the Adidas Sundown Marathon then. I can still remember how much pain it was running without putting in the proper mileage. <== Wrong move! So this time, hopefully i will be better prepared! I am ready to kick his ass again. 

Hey baby bro, this is for you. BRING IT ON! 

To people doing your first full marathon, and my personal message to my baby brother, here it is

You will know what i mean when you are really running it. (P.S. His first full marathon! ==> Things you do when you are young and naive.) But proud of him anyways to have the courage to take on this challenge. Not many people have the balls to. 

To myself and everyone else i suppose "don't think just run" right?

If you have signed up, KUDOS! A pat on the back. It's the first step.

According to Forbes, may you be meeting someone for the first time, or seeing a new product for a first time, the brain makes a thousand computations: Are you someone to approach or to avoid? Like or dislike? And surprise or not, these computations are made at lightning speed. Researchers from NYU found that we make eleven major decisions in seven seconds.

We have about 7 seconds to attract a reader in essence. What sets one apart from the rest? Come on, let’s face it. There are trizillions of blogs out there. From fashion blogs, to foodie blogs and even nerdy blogs.What makes these blogs stands out from the rest?

In my humble and not-very-expert opinion, it all boils down to 2 elements:

(1) CONTENT and (2) DESIGN

 

Design is an important element on blogs. Not just for the readers but also for your own sake. For the readers, a neat and easy-to-navigate blog would be user friendly. For your own sake, a pretty blog would surely motivate you to write more frequently right? Pretty blog = more post = more content and maybe = more readers? (Hopefully!)

So where am i going at this? Well, i have a NEW blogskin!!

I started blogging end 2012 to mark a new chapter in life. Graduating from grad school and starting my first job. The inspiration of starting a blog is (1) to update my friends of my life and (2) really to practice and staying in touch with writing. In a short span of less than a year, my blog underwent  2 "renovations". It took me a while to actually find a "look" which reflected my style and a "look" that make me feel me.

Simplicity is sort of a hallmark of Carrie's work. I first stumble upon Carrie on Esty when I was google-ling for blog skins. Her designs caught my eyes instantly. People close around me know that I am famous for inclination toward blacks and whites. I would say 90% of the time I am in blacks or whites. I fancy everything simple and therefore Carrie’s design really epitomize my style. Hence this new look on my blog! To be honest I love this new look! Love all things black and white and simple! It really motivates me to update my blog more frequently nowadays. 

Anyways like to take some time to introduce Carrie. She hails from South Carolina, USA.
